Curriculum

Gulf Model School is an Indian School which follow a curriculum that has been carefully designed and developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.

Besides promoting academic achievement, our dynamic, child-centric, skill-based curriculum has been designed to ensure the all-round development of every student – identifying their unique talents and unleashing their true potential, whilst allowing them to follow their own interests and maintain their connections with their own home country and culture.

From the very start of their journey with us here at Gulf Model School Dubai, our students are encouraged to develop an enthusiastic approach to learning and a drive to excel in everything they do. Of course, it’s about more than just academic learning – our pupils are also encouraged to develop positive attitudes, healthy habits, and strong moral and ethical values that they need to become reliable, responsible, and valuable world citizens.

Gulf Model School- Dubai has a strong international focus. Classes are taught in English, which is the main language of instruction, whilst Arabic is introduced in KG in line with the requirements of the UAE Ministry of Education.

Starting at Kindergarten level, the curriculum culminates in the All India Secondary School Examination at the end of Grade X and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination at the end of Grade XII, both of which are overseen by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, India and also Kerala State Board. Opening up a whole world of opportunities, these qualifications set pupils graduating from CBSE Schools (UAE) in good stead to apply for universities and higher education colleges across the globe.

Kindergarten
We follow a child centered and an activity based, skill-oriented curriculum in Kindergarten. It approaches early years learning as a holistic, integrated focus on children's creative expression, physical and communication skills as well as emotional and social development. Learning is carefully structured yet allows for exploratory, child-initiated experiences. The essence of the Kindergarten curriculum lies in providing children with a variety of adequate, appropriate, first-hand, concrete, relevant and sensorial experiences based on their needs.

Our curriculum for Kindergarten at Gulf model School is a perfect blend of child-initiated as well as teacher-led activities, which are strategically planned with a focus on all the areas of learning. To ensure all round development of the children, we concentrate on the seven areas of learning; namely Communication and Language, Personal Social & Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Numeracy, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts & Design. We use these areas of learning and development while observing, assessing and planning for the children’s individual needs. Through this we make sure that we are constantly challenging the children and helping them to develop and succeed. The curriculum is a fine blend of different approaches and best practices; however, a combination of NCERT guidelines for Preschool curriculum, theme based Early Childhood Care & Education Programme by NCERT and the Early Years Foundation Stage framework underpin the curriculum.

The curriculum is further strengthened with the co-curricular activities like Performing Arts, Life Skills, Physical Education; which are well integrated and linked to the areas of learning and development.

Assessment in Kindergarten is an ongoing process and teachers make continuous observations as children work and interact during activities. Progress of the children is assessed against grade level expectations in the seven areas of learning and development.

We strongly believe that a child is a learner and teachers are facilitators to bring about the learning. At Gulf Model School, all children are helped to develop their strengths and work on their challenges through right learning tools, right environment and appropriate opportunities to facilitate their learning. With this curriculum in Kindergarten, we are equipped to support the children, plan and execute developmentally appropriate activities for enriched foundation for life, which they rightfully deserve.
